89 SUBARU XT COUPE. car does run but trans will not go into gear. just put new motor (from junk yard) into car.motor blew head gasket and the rods were nocking so we put new motor in. car was driving before so dont really know what is wrong with tranny. pulled oil cooler lines off and no tranny fluid is circulating thru lines. bought car from a "mechanic". when first looked at car his wife and daughter told me that there was nothing wrong with the car. other daughter drove it all thru high school and when she went to college she bought a new truck and part the car. they said that it had been sitting for about four years. i took there word on it and gave them a deposit. they said they would get me the key and never did. mean while i put two new tires on the front, had there rear tires fixed(would not hold air) and put a new battery in it. when i paid the rest of the money i was told that it needed a fuel pump( $250 "by the way"). towed it home got a fuel pump, changed the oil, new plugs. got it fired up and the rods nock like crazy and no oil pressure ( not a very happy camper by this point). put additive in oil and helped those two problems. about three weeks later the head gasket blows. we found a motor in a junk yard and have put that in but know the car will not move. itis time for the car to find a new home. car is not in bad shape outside and in. has power door lock and windows, both do work. it is a real neat car inside as it is designed after a jet fighter cockpit. it has a telscoping steering column. a pistol grip shifter. if you have any questions please call 719-688-1257 and leave a message. thanks alot and good luck.
