This vehicle is a 1979 Pontiac Firebird Esprit that was purchased 3 years ago in Chicago for $4800. It is a 30 year-old project car with a moderately-sized dent in the passenger side door (see pictures) and several paint chips/nicks across the front bumper, headlights and driver's side quarter panel as well as throughout the body of the vehicle. The paint on the hood has also been chipped, scratched and partially melted. The actual paint job looks like a newbie's work, as there are bumps throughout the surface of the vehicle and the current paint color is the OEM blue -- this car will certainly need to be completely wet sanded and re-painted if restoration is your goal. The title states that the odometer does NOT reflect the original mileage and the odometer currently reads ~49,968 miles; the vehicle likely has over 149,968 miles on it and the odometer has probably rolled over once but the vehicle is so old that there's no way to tell the actual mileage with any degree of certainty.
Under the hood is a stock Pontiac 400 CID motor with a 2-year old Edelbrock 650cfm Thunder Series AVS carburetor, a 10+ year-old Edelbrock intake manifold, a new PCV valve and the stock 6X heads. Dual exhaust assembly appears aftermarket and has a few holes in it; the rear tail light assembly also appears aftermarket. Side skirts and doors, seats, floor mats, and interior items look to be the original Pontiac/Fisher parts and in fair/good condition. A new, single CD player has replaced the original radio and is wired to both the original dashboard speaker as well as to a new subwoofer in the trunk (see picture). No headliner is present within the passenger cabin and there is also a small scratch in the vinyl trim near the glove compartment on the passenger's side.
This car runs... but not very well. The engine appears to run somewhat rough even after carburetor tuning and new spark plugs. A mechanic pointed out to me that the rear main seal is worn and may be starting to leak fluid; however, the car continues to drive decently (albeit slowly) today and does not leave any puddles on the ground. My next step to restoring the motor was going to be the installation of a new timing chain since the engine appears to "bog" and sometimes backfires when the driver attempts to quickly accelerate. However, I no longer have the time or resources to complete this project and must sell this vehicle ASAP. My loss is your gain.
