Up for sale is a 1980 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme
I am the second owner of this vehicle.
I have all the paperwork, including the original manual, and service and repair guides.
The 1980 Oldsmobile Cutlass is a special year. It is only one year that the car had many unique features. The front end is a one of a kind, with the grilles that go up over the front fascia and 4 headlights. It also has the large body lines. This car is also a hardtop coupe. The front nose was replaced. New fenders, the front nose and a new hood. They were replaced off a 1979 Oldsmobile Cutlass W-30 edition. Which means they are in good condition, and the hood is aluminum, so it is very light weight.
This vehicle has no major exterior damage, and does has a few rust spots, see pictures. Both front and rear bumpers have been replaced.
This car also has special tail lights. They have the Oldsmobile Airplane in between the lenses, which light up when the brakes are pressed.
The transmission was replaced with a TH400 transmission. This trans was professionally rebuilt by White's Pit Stop in Lansing Illinois. It has a very nice shift kit and shifts very firmly. It will chirp the tires into 2nd gear. It also has a 2800rpm stall torque converter. There was about $1000 spent on the transmission, and $250 spent on the Torque converter.
The rear end was rebuilt by Chicago Driveline in Alsip Illinois. It has an Auburn Posi, Motive Gears with a 3.08 ratio and all new seals and bearings and parts. There was about $1500 spent on the rear end.
The driveshaft was also reworked by Chicago driveline. It was reground, and balanced. The u-joints were replaced as was the front yoke, with a new yoke to fit the TH400 transmission. There was about $100 spent on the driveshaft.
The heads were reworked for an Olds 350 motor that blew. They were redone at Napa auto parts machine shop. There was about $250 spent on the heads.
Currently it has an Oldsmobile 307 motor, with an Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, and an Edelbrock 750cfm carburetor. Dynomax headers, an edelbrock fuel pump, a Crane Cams air reserve tank for the power brakes, and Cragar SS wheels. The engine is blown, it has a very severe rod knock and has not been started in a few years. There is no external damage, the engine block, heads or other parts have no cracks or physical damage. The radiator has been replaced with a 3 core radiator, however one of the lines that run across for cooling would need to be brazed as it was slightly damaged.
After discussion with a few different mechanics, I was told the transmission and rear end would be fine after just sitting. But they would need fluid changes, and possibly new seals. The motor will need to be rebuilt, but the heads, intake manifold and some other parts may be able to be given a good cleaning and reused.
The interior is in fair shape. The seats have some wear and the carpet is stretched and would need to be replaced. The floor may be rusted in some areas. Most of the interior panels are complete. The dash does have some cracks. I would rate the interior as fair with need of some work.
All of the exterior glass, and parts are in good condition. The glass has no cracks or chips. Most of the plastic exterior parts and trim piece are complete and in tact.
All of the work on the car was done a few years back. As of now, it has just been sitting. It does not start and has no battery, but would be a great project car, or a great parts car as there are tons of usable parts, alot of them being performance parts.
All parts listed above were redone about 5 years ago, but only have about 6,000 miles on them.
Being that this vehicle is not running it will need to be picked up. It has not been started in a few years. It currently has no battery.
