1970 OLDSMOBILE CUTLASS 2 DOOR COUPE.
CAR HISTORY....
THE CAR IS RED AND ORIGINALLY HAD A BLACK VINAL TOP (WHICH IS NOW GONE DUE TO AGE AND WEATHER). I PURCHASED THIS CAR IN 1971 AND DROVE IT FOR MANY YEARS. I SOLD IT TO MY GOOD FRIEND JOHN A FEW YEARS BACK WHO PLANNED ON FIXING IT UP AND NEVER GOT A ROUND TO DOING IT. SO, HE DOESN'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT EBAY AND ASKED ME TO LIST IT FOR HIM. AS I OWNED THE CAR FOR MORE THAN 30 YEARS I AM GLAD TO HELP HIM. ANYHOW, OVER THE YEARS THE CAR HAD A FEW MINOR FENDER BENDERS WHICH WERE REPAIRED EXCEPT ONE SLIGHT CREASE ON THE FRONT DRIVERS FENDER WHERE IT WAS HIT IN A PARKING LOT BY SOMEONE WHO DROVE OFF. THE CAR WAS PAINTED TWICE OVER THE YEARS THE ORIGINAL RED COLOR BUT I NEVER HAD A GARAGE TO KEEP THE PAINT FROM SUN FADE. I DID HAVE SPORT MIRRORS PUT ON THE CAR WHEN IT WAS PAINTED THE FIRST TIME. THERE IS SOME RUST ON THE REAR QUARTER PANELS THAT HAS EATEN THRU, ALSO RUST EATEN THRU IN THE TRUNK AT THE FENDER WELL, AND RUST IN THE FLOOR THAT HAS A SOFT SPOT ON THE PASSENGER FLOOR AREA. OVERALL THE BODY IS IN PRETTY GOOD SHAPE AS FOR BEING STRAIGHT BUT HAS SOME RUST AREAS THAT NEED TO BE REPAIRED. IT ALSO NEEDS NEW PAINT AND A NEW VINAL TOP.
THE INTERIOR OF THE CAR IS IN BAD SHAPE AND NEEDS TO BE TOTALY REPLACED. HOWEVER THE ORIGINAL SEATS ARE STILL IN THE CAR. THERE IS A HEAT CRACK IN THE DASH THAT NEEDS TO BE REPAIRED. THE ORIGINAL STEERING WHEEL BROKE OVER THE YEARS AND WAS REPLACED WITH AN AUTO ZONE SPECIAL. THE CAR CURRENTLY HAS WHEELS FROM A 1971 OR 1972 (I THINK) OLDS ON THE GROUND BUT ALSO COMES WITH THE ORIGINAL 4 WHEELS FROM 1970. IT ALSO CURRENTLY HAS A TRAILER HITCH. THE TIRES LOOK GREAT BUT MAY NEED TO BE REPLACED SOON DUE TO AGE.
THE ENGINE IS A 350 V8 THAT RUNS GREAT. I REPLACED THE ORIGINAL 2 BARREL CARB WITH A 4 BARREL AND ADDED DUEL EXHAUST PIPES. IT SOUNDS GOOD AND RUNS GOOD... THE CAR STILL HAS THE ORIGINAL AIR CONDITIONER EQUIPMENT BUT IT DOESN'T WORK. I THINK THE COMPRESSOR IS SHOT BUT I'M NOT SURE WHAT IT WOULD TAKE TO FIX IT. THE ENGINE WAS COMPLETELY REBUILT ABOUT 20,000 MILES AGO. AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION IS IN GREAT SHAPE. OVERALL THE MECHANICAL PART OF THE CAR HAS BEEN TAKEN GOOD CARE OF. THE CAR RUNS ON PREMIUM GAS WITH LEAD ADDITIVE FOR MAXIMUM PERFORMANCE.
ALL THIS CAR NEEDS IS A LOT OF TLC AND SOMEONE WITH THE TIME AND MONEY TO FIX IT. I WILL BE GLAD TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THE CAR IF I CAN...... THANKS, THORNTON
