1970 Olds 442 Ram Air This car is a very unusual find. Though rusty, it is almost completely original and very well optioned. Original numbers matching 455 engine (365 horse) with Turbo 400 trans and a twelve bolt rear. Triple white, vinyl top, bucket seats with console. Electric/tinted windows! Power driver’s seat. Air conditioning. Power disc brakes and steering. Factory fiberglass ram air hood with complete original ram-air air cleaner, carb, etc. Door stickers are very clear. Wiring harness is unmolested. AM/FM four speaker flip radio with factory amplifier (very rare) is in excellent cosmetic condition and mechanism works smoothly (have not heard it play yet), knobs are in great shape and match the original cigarette lighter. Rear speakers have been replaced. Entire dash is in very good condition. The 82,014 showing on the odometer appears to be correct. All 442 heavy duty suspension pieces, including rear swaybar are intact. Front center tooth of hood has been broken off due to rust at the very front of the hood frame, but has been retained. Rust on hood frame is isolated and repairable. Hood has unusual screen that appears factory. Original five spoke wheels. Right quarter panel was replaced very long ago and repair has rusted out. Trunk lid is from another 442, still have very rusty original. Original owner’s manual and some warranty info. Original color scheme was striking, with triple white with red hood stripes, red side pin stripes. The interior originally was/is white with black dash and console with red carpets. No tach, clock instead. No tilt. Restoration of this car would be more simply accomplished by finding a solid donor Cutlass main body shell, though this shell is restorable. She’ll need floor pans, trunk floor, right quarter and panel between trunk and rear window. We have a 72 442 body shell from which most of the parts required could be obtained and purchased separately. Though we know this car would bring good money selling the individual pieces here on ebay, it would be a shame to part this car out. Engine was started for the first time in years and she runs great! Upper engine had been painted red while in the car, was originally gold. Original Quadrajet has just been rebuilt by us. Original ac fuel pump was just replaced but original works and has been retained. Starter is original and works great. All keys work. Haven’t been able to get windows to move yet. New brake booster and master cylinder have been installed, these were the only pieces missing on the car when we got her. For those unfamiliar with the trials of a concours restoration, this car will greatly simplify things and is the perfect candidate for such a restoration. We are a restoration shop and have just finished a 1970 LS 6 Chevelle. Finding and replacing all of the butchered and modified pieces easily added over 25 thousand to the bill that would have not been necessary had we started out with such an unmolested example. Time lost on research and locating parts will not be an issue with this car – she is correct! Though it is our understanding the car had not been started since 1984, we were able to get it running with twenty minutes work. She now idles smoothly and starts immediately with no smoke. We were told the original owner had died and believe the car was parked when the brake booster failed shortly after his death. As is typical with older Georgia cars, the title is not required and was not available when we acquired the car. If you live in a title state, your state WILL honor Georgia’s earlier no-title law and WILL issue you a title. This is true for all states we know of, please check your state official to verify. Though we would like to restore this car, as you can see in the one picture, we have a large number of project cars (ten right now), as well as customer work, and something must sell to allow room and help fund the other projects. We will not be giving this car away, but feel the reserve is fair. Should we not hit our reserve, we will simply be listing another car from our stable. Since we are new to selling entire cars on ebay, shipping will be the responsibility of the buyer, though we will assist in anyway we can. Local delivery is available. Though the car is drivable, it has only been driven a few miles since 1984, so this is not a car you can hop in and drive home. Vehicle is sold as is, no warranty. If there are any questions, please feel free to contact Larry or Dave at (912) 920-0090.
