Here is one beautiful 1987 Mazda RX-7.. She is a nice "Burple" blue, in some light the car looks blue, in shadow it looks more purple, very cool effect.. the finish is very nice on the car, I would say it is show quality, and it looks professionally done, but we are not going to say the paint is perfect either, nor do I consider myself to be a car show judge, But I love Hot Rods and this car is very nice!!. We at first thought this was a 305, but when we look at the oil fill tube, It is the chrome cap at the front of the engine. We are pretty sure that the older 327 and 283 engines were the the only one to use this fill tube.. So we think this is either a 327 or 283, which is a much better choice for a hot rod. The transmission is a 350 Turbo that is mated to the stock bulletproof Standard mazda unit. The engine looks awesome, it is mounted by motor plates that allow it to be properly converted to fit the Mazda locations, there is no cutting of the frame to make this fit.. The engine fits nice and even..If it weren't for the air cleaner, the engine would sit low enough that it would have fit under the hood, but the scoop had to be added. A real sleeper, except for the pipes!! Everything here looks professionally done.. The engine compartment looks like something from a car show, again this is a nicely put together ride!! You cant really see it in the pic but the front frame rails and radiator have polished aluminum dress plates that shine like chrome when cleaned.. The radiator is an aluminum 4 core unit, that is cooled with a high volume 14 electic fan with console mounted toggle control with indicator light, so you don't forget it is on and drain the battery!! The engine is dressed up with Accel wires and has all the obligitory braided hoses, wire looms, and all that fancy stuff. The engine is also dressed up with spun aluminum pulleys.. The Block is a nice Satin Black which matches the inner fenders and firewall. This car was meant to look good, and it does!! The huge chrome Corvette style sidepipes really make this car standout, they are in excellent condition and have a beautiful tone as well as the shine!! They are functional although they are hooked to stock manifolds.. So the manifold pipe goes into one of the four pipes on the sidepipe.. Sidepipe headers would really bring this car to life.. The engine, we were told, is stock and is said to have around 87,000 miles.. The engine seems strong and runs smoothly although it seems to run a little rich, probably because it has sat.. The body is super straight and everything lines up the way it should.. This car looks like it was well taken care of.. Some of these v8 conversions start off with a beater run to death body.. This car is a nice car!!! The body has less than 100,000, and rides like a new one.. The paint finish is beautiful and has a nice even shine. There is a small spot on the front bumper on the lower drivers side where the paint got knocked off when the builder tried to put it on a trailer to take it to a show that was a distance from his house, he was driving the car on the trailer by himself and the car simply sits a little lower than he expected.. I was going to simply put a satin black stripe around the bottom of the front spoiler, it would repair the paint spot and set the front end off at the same time!! The car runs and drives well.. It was built around 6 years ago and has only been driven 4 or 5 times since completed. The Builder got it basically done then he started an s10, then he got a jetboat, and this little car sat under a cover in the side of his building until he brought it to work to sit in a warehouse for 4 years until I bought it and took it home.. There are a few things left to finish on this car.. The Speedometer is not hooked up, and in the Sunpro gauge pod, the ameter and oil pressure gauges still need hooked up. The car came to us with a smaller 9 inch electric fan, we replaced this with the 14 inch as we felt the 9 inch fan would not keep the small block cool enough.. The 15" polished aluminum wheels are brand new and the tires are as well, the rears are white letter BF Goodrich, but the fronts are black letter so all 4 are turned in.. The car has chrome valve extension and caps.. This car is real close to finished, it just needs a little more love.. ..The steering feels tight on the car, but at slow speed, the V8 weight is noticable in the rack n pinion steering.. The 4 wheel disc brakes work but will need bled, the car has sat in a garage for the last 4 years, it was started from time to time, the brake fluid evaporated, and when I got in car and pumped the brakes once, I drew in a little air, they still work fine, but need bled a little.. Also because of the sitting, the transmission pan started to leak a little.. There is a new gasket and filter that will go with the car.. I crushed my right hand and lost a finger a month ago so I have gotten a little behind in the wrench turning, but both are easy fixes and I am including the parts!! The interior is nice and clean, the car has seatcovers that are over good seats, the carpet is nice, there is a cirgarette burn in one of the rear seats, and a small dent in the passenger side door panel as shown in that pic.. The Sunpro Tach looks nice, the interior has a great appeal, a set of race inspired seatcovers would really set this interior off!! The car has a Jensen am/fm cd player.. I have not fooled with it but the car had a few cd's in it so I suppose it works.. The car builder thought it would be a good idea to relocate the battery to the trunk.. This looks ok but I think the battery would be better hidden in a box.. This would make a great cruiser and is well on the way to show car quality. We are selling the car because of a recent injury at my job, I simply can't finish it at this point, we have a total of 10 cars, this was the last one to come in, so I chose it to be the first to go.. It is a really fun little car!! It is great in town, People definitely take notice to this car.. The car having the standard rear end and the 3speed auto leave it a little low geared for my taste, it is fine if you want to make this into a 1/8 mile car, but the car turns rougly 3200 rpm at 55 mph, so it is not exactly highway friendly.. I think overdrive or turn this into a 5 speed and it would be a totally different car, that was my intention, but things happen.. I checked the car and all the lights and turn signels and horn worked, this car did pass West Virginia Inspection.. Currently, the car has a clear Ohio title. We took a YouTube video of how the car runs, be sure to check it out. Click here... www.youtube.com/watch?v=SRsRgQthvYY We have only driven the car a few times, the car runs smooth, but as it is still a new construction, there are a few small things to iron out, plus it has sat for a while and needs run to broken back in.. Everything looks like it is in good shape, the belts and tires have good rubber, I put a new rubber valve cover gasket on so it does not leak oil.. Due to the lower gearing and the fact that it has not been a daily driver, and has sat inside for years, and the speedometer not working.. We think it would be wise to trailer it.. It is a great car but I have not driven it for many miles so I would trailer it to be safe. Terms of sale are easy, payment upon pickup. There is nothing wrong with the car that I know of that I have not mentioned.. I drove the car 25 miles home when I bought it and drove it around the neighborhood a few times since, I put somewhere between 50 and 75 miles on the car since I have had it.. It is a great little car, it will need to be finished, but this is a beautiful one of a kind car, check out video!! Again you are looking at a great car with show car potential, in fact all you need to do is drive it to the show!! But we are not offering a new car, nor are we offering a car that we can guarantee. You are welcome to come look at car before auction's end, and of course, ask as many questions as you like or ask for more pictures.. We offer this car with no reserve.
