1972 MG Midget Total Restoration Project Clean Title! PLEASE CHECK OUT ALL PICTURES! http://www.geocities.com/jgordongirl24/MGPics.html Link will open in this browser window This was listed before...deal fell through so we're back for a second try. This car is in need of a total restoration. The person who had it before us started doing bodywork on it, but did a very amateur job. Body putty is visible in many spots and none of those spots were sanded. There are currently many things taped off as the previous owner was ready to paint, despite it not being the least bit ready for that. Because of that, there are no headlights, windshield wipers, bumpers (though we do have the rear one), side mouldings, emblems, etc. According to the title, the car was originally red. There are plenty of rust spots (some are seen in the pictures), and basically the only good piece of metal is the truck lid. The tires and the wheels are good. Someone spray painted something blue on the hood, so it looks like graffiti. Engine wise, it has an original 1275, 4 cylinder. Manual transmission. The engine starts and runs; we’ve moved it in and out of the garage and whirled it around the driveway a few times (it's not licensed, so we haven't driven it on the street). The battery was recently replaced, and now the car fires up well. I’m sure it could use a tune up. We’ve had trouble getting it into reverse, but with patience, it is possible. Brake fluid was recently added. The odometer says the engine has 46,882 miles on it; whether that’s 46K or 146K or higher, we don’t know. The speedometer is off as it says 5mph, yet the car is sitting still. You can see this in a picture as well. All the gauges are there, although the water temperature gauge is not sitting in the instrument panel; it’s flopping around the front and it’s in bad shape. The interior is almost all gone. The driver’s seat is there, but in need of reupholstering. The passenger’s seat is only a rusty frame. Both headrests are here but we can’t get them to stay in the seat. There is no carpet. The dashboard is in need of some Armor-All, but has no cracks. Windshield is in good condition. The side windows and the window regulators are also in good shape. Car has both a hard and soft-top, but the soft-top material is completely gone, leaving only a frame. The hard-top’s glass is in good shape, as is the top itself. This car, to the best of our understanding, was in a barn for several years, so expect to find various things left behind by critters. The wiring has suffered at the paws of a mouse or rat and from the elements. But apparently not enough to make the car not start. There are other parts missing; we’re not sure of every little thing. There’s not a lot pretty about the car, but it is very salvageable. If you have the time and room to make this car what it was in 1972, then this would be a great project! Winning bidder may pick the car up, have it shipped at their expense (you arrange the shipping…our Zip Code is 50313 for estimates you’ll want to check out. Check out the SHIPPING tab in this auction. Or if you know of an auto transport service, check with them.), or we will deliver within an approximate 100 mile radius of Des Moines, Iowa. Farthest East: Iowa City. Farthest North: Clear Lake. Farthest West: Council Bluffs. Farthest South: Bethany, MO. Cost of our delivery is $150. ****Full Payment Due at time of pickup/delivery, or due before the car is picked up for shipping**** Pickup or Delivery Payment Options: Cash or Paypal. NO CHECKS OF ANY KIND. I don't care how authentic the money order is...we won't take it. Shipping Payment Options: Paypal ONLY. $100 deposit through Paypal is required of winning bidder to be made within 72 hours of auction end. WE WILL NOT ACCEPT BIDS FROM OUTSIDE THE USA. If this doesn’t sell as a whole car, we may part it out. If you would like to know the condition of a specific part, let us know, and watch the bids. We’ll definitely list any specific parts that have garnered interest. If you have any questions, please ask! We want you to know as much as you need before you bid. This was just a project that we have no time for, so we’re letting someone else make a project out of it. Thanks for looking! I've had a few inquiries about the hardtop, so I am adding a link to pictures of it. See the below question about its condition! http://www.geocities.com/jgordongirl24/hardtop.html
