This is a beautiful example of a 1974 ½ MGB, the last MG model built with the SU carburetors. This is a California car that has never been “salt” driven and as a result has NO rust! The factory paint is in great condition as is the body. And I will say one more time, this car has ZERO rust or body filler. It is just as the pictures show!
Two things that make this car special are the factory installed overdrive gearbox and the dealer installed Air Conditioning. Both are in good working order. (The A/C is converted to r-134).
Mechanically, it is very sound, with good tires and exhaust. It does not burn oil, smoke, or leak! It has great oil pressure and temps. The car turned 100,000 miles driving to Gatlinburg, Tn for the MG2006 show. All emissions equipment is still in place and working as required in CA. (brought from CA in 2004) This is a 'get in and drive anywhere' MGB!
The radio is working, but very old tech, and when I installed the new seats and door panels I did not cut the panels for new speakers. As well as needing radio and speakers, a new antenna is needed as well. The carpet is just so so but does not look too bad. The dash does have a top overlay. The top is in great condition, the windows are bright and clear also.
Included is the original tire jack complete with it's bag, and the tonneau bars also with their bag.There is a small rock chip in the windshield, otherwise no fogging or delamination. The front bumper has never been drilled for a license plate.
"This is one of the best driving MGBs ever"! It has a smooth, strong engine, it stops well, and is just plain fun to drive. I was told by the last owner the engine was overhauled by a shop in California about 25,000 miles/10 years ago. It will run all day long at 70mph without a shake or rattle. This car looks just as good in person as it does in the pictures.
The mileage as of this week is 102,400 but the car is driven at least weekly thus it will change. Also, the car is listed for sale locally, so I reserve the right to pull this auction in case of a local sale only. The reserve is set to a very fair price for such a nice MGB.
I will do what I can to assist in the shipping of the car, local pick up is fine. The car can be seen and test driven in Wilmington, Ohio. A cash or PayPal deposit of $500 within 3 days after the close of the auction with full payment of cash, or MO within 15 days. Payment must clear before shipping or pick up. The description is the best I can give, I would drive it anywhere in the US, it is a very road worthy car. But, this is a 34 year old unrestored car. It is being sold as is. The Ohio title is clear and in my name.
