2003 Honda S2000 Street 28 mpg Track Day Auto-cross ready
BUT IT NOW $12,500
This car was first a Honda lease vehicle and therefore maintained properly and pampered
This is the ultimate practical and reliable sports car and has Honda quality and great performance – ask any S2000 owner and I also love this car
The Suzuka blue is an unusual and beautiful color – no boring silver or white or flashy red
Honda is working on a replacement which will take the sporting characteristics away and will be more luxury oriented and far more expensive than the S2000
The S2000 was made in the same factory as the Acura NSX
It was a southern car so no salt or bad weather driving
The Suzuka metallic blue is subtle and I have never even been stopped for speeding
The 2003 is the last with the AP1 engines with 9,000 rpm red line with VTEC and retains the sporty suspension setup
This car has the glass rear window for good long lasting rear visibility lacking in earlier years
The 10 second power top means you will actually use it – two small latches and press the button
Consumer Reports rates the S2000 as one of the most trouble free cars among all cars – check it
I have used the car for track days and as a daily driver – 10 VIR track sessions with NO damage
I have used it to become solo certified and to “learn the smooth line” at VIR
I usually short shift at 6,000 to 7,500 rpm on the track and rarely hit the 9,000 rpm rev limiter in straights before shifting or braking
I installed a trailer hitch which is hidden until use to pull a small trailer – I planned to carry track tires but I never ran it with slicks or R1 DOT tires only the street tires
I am 68 and hope to obtain my competition license so have a full race CSR car now which will require a tow vehicle
I have installed after market slotted brake rotors and high performance brake pads and high temperature brake fluid and super high performance Ferdo brake pads included
I installed the Saner front anti-sway bar which cures the tail happy reputation for these cars and is legal for stock production SCCA auto-cross class (these type bars cost $500 and up)
A Honda motorcycle race tech installed the Hard Dog roll bar ( the bar costs $860 and Hard Dog charges $1,600 to install it – that is why you do not see many S2000s at track days)
I get an honest 28mpg average and this includes 75 to 80 mph cruising
I have always used synthetic oil changed at 5,000 mile intervals
The HP summer Kuhmo tires have about 70% tread remaining
Rear limited slip differential lubricant recently changed at local Honda dealership (important)
There is a small cut in the top as seen in images
I have all the plastic surround pieces for the roll bar but have not installed them and they go with the car – it makes the trunk space almost twice as large in effective storage
The car comes with the original manuals
See images for scratch on gas cap - otherwise no dents or significant scratches
I am advertising locally and the car is subject to prior sale
I can pick up the buyer at the New Bern, NC airport and it is ready to drive anywhere
