When the owner and his wife were living in Indiana, the original Cadillac they had ordered was a blue convertible but by the time they got home -- they were convinced -- and wanted the best -- it should have been red, with a white top and black interior. They immediately called the dealership, and explained that they had changed their minds on the color, thus the Cadillac you see was delivered, just as ordered by this first owner. :) This is the classic Mark of Excellence indeed.
When interviewing the original owners, they told us about when the family and their three teenagers were on vacation going to Florida -- they were cruising down the road with the top down through Georgia -- then a sudden cloudburst appeared and began to sprinkle them in a cold light rain shower. Unable to stop quickly because of traffic, they slowed down and began to put the top up -- when all a sudden the children all grabbed the top and helped it carefully into position. They could see the others drivers next to them clapping in the cars. What a trill it was -- the thrill can be yours, don't hesitate, don't let this Classic Caddy get away! You will make many great memories!

In 1996 when they moved to Florida the convertible top was replaced, as well as the worn seats were replaced with soft black vinyl and the car was repainted. Two years later they realized that in their community, a golf cart was the mode of transportation -- so the Cadillac went into garage storage. Once again it was taken extremely well care of. The chrome bumpers were oiled for protection, and the car was started and exercised to keep it in top condition. Indeed it is!

In Florida, this Cadillac is considered an antique -- it is smooth and solid. The paint on this car is an eye-popping red that contrasts with the deep black interior. The glamour of the De Ville convertible is further dramatized by the strength of its interior. The dash and instruments cluster are in remarkable condition for a 30 year old car. The Chrome and stainless is also very good. The grill is in awesome condition. The car has a clean white power operated convertible top that was only recently revealed and is in pristine condition, and works like just like a top should. The Coupe De Ville shown here, is one of the most popular of all Cadillacs, and its great beauty and graciousness made it even more a favorite of Cadillac enthusiasts. Its elegant styling is crowned by at the time was considered an exclusive new roof design with a classic upper rear quarter panel. Its long, low beauty is highlighted by a single sweeping contour from front to rear.
For years, the De Ville Convertible has been the overwhelming choice of luxury convertible buyers. This 1967, was the reason no other car in its field could match it. You are surrounded by conveniences, comforts, fine details and precise craftsmanship found only in the Standard of the World.
The elegance and Cadillac style are unmistakable
The Coupe deVille was introduced by Cadillac late in the 1949 model year. Part of the Cadillac Series 62 line, it was a closed, two-door coup, Cadillac's first pillar less hardtop. Intended as a prestige model, at $3,497 it was one of the most expensive models of the Series 62 line. It was luxuriously trimmed, with leather upholstery and chrome 'bows' in the headliner to simulate the ribs of a convertible top. The first-year Coupe deVille sold 2,150 units, but 1950 sales were more than double, and 1951 more than doubled those of the previous year. By 1961 it was one of the company's most popular models, with annual sales above 20,000.
Cadillac De Ville nomenclature always followed a tradition: Two doors with steel roofs were always Coupe De Ville, four doors were always Sedan De Ville until the elimination of two door models, and convertibles, like this classic Caddy were always simply De Ville, as they were neither a coupe, nor a sedan by design.
Sales of the extremely popular Coupe de Ville passed the 50,000 mark during the 1966 model year for the first time, but continued to trail those of the four-door Hardtop Sedan de Ville. DeVille closed models had chrome trim in the concave reveal around the side window openings, including the window sills. Automatic level control standard where indicated in text. A new engine mounting system and patented quiet exhaust were used. Weight was 4,460 pounds for hardtop, and 4,445 pounds for convertible.
The prices had gone up from the previous year, now ranging $5,339 to $5,555 dollars for hardtops, and convertible. When the 1966 production ended in the summer of that year, setting a new record of 50,580 Coupe de Villes had rolled off the Clark Avenue plant assembly lines
The 1967 Coupe de Villes were extensively restyled. Prominent styling features were given a powerful frontal appearance with forward-leaning front end, long sculptured body lines, and redefined rear fenders that had more than just a hint of tail fins in them. The full-width forward-thrusted "eggcrate" grille was flanked by dual stacked headlights for the third consecutive year. Rectangular parking lamps were built into the outer edges of the grille.
Minor trim variations and slightly richer interiors separated DeVilles from Calais. Tiffany style chrome signature scripts were again found above the body side molding on the rear fenders. Coupe de Ville's and Calais got a smart new formal roof line that were inspired by the Florentine show car created for the 1964 New York World's Fair.

For General Motors - Cadillac led the way in setting the standard for luxury convertibles. The bread-and-butter 1967 Cadillac models weren't overlooked in the hubbub over the 1967 Cadillac Eldorado. In fact, the 1967 Cadillac lineup enjoyed an extensive restyle announced by a front-end ensemble thrust forward at the top (as this Cadillac has). You will be so proud to drive this Caddy, whether at car shows or just on Sundays.
New 1967 Cadillac features included printed mylar instrument-panel circuits, automatic-level-control suspension, cruise control, and tilt steering wheel. Bolstered by the new Eldorado, which was actually part of the Fleetwood series, Cadillac built precisely 200,000 Cadillac cars for the 1967 model year.
New government emissions standards were instituted in 1968, so this 1967 Cadillac engine was bare, easy to get to everything ... better economy, and incredible raw power from its V8 429 powerhouse. In 1968 Cadillac's engineers had to respond to the stricter emission standards.
Just like on the show car, the quarter window glass retracted rear window into a sail panel.
The 1967 Coupe de Ville equipment lists were comprised of all the same features found on Calais models plus power operated window regulators; rear cigarette lighters in all styles and two-way power front seats. An innovative slide-out fuse box and safety front seat back lock for two-door models were additional Cadillac advances for the 1967 model year.

Condition Notes:
Interior: The interior of this classic Caddy is all black and in exceptional shape. Although this car is 41 years old it has been taken care of like a baby. Carpeting is also in great shape. It even has the original 41 year old factory Cadillac floor mats (see photos).
Exterior: The deep red paint shines like a new penny. The paint in a few areas has been touched-up mainly on the lower right side rocker panel, where it seems a tad had flaked off (and now touched up - barely noticeable, but worth mentioning), but is not due to rust. This Caddy is solid, been pampered its entire life. The original owner we are assisting in the sale of it -- the bumpers and chrome was always coated with lubricants to keep them looking like new. There is very little pitting on the mirrors, but for a car this old it is amazing how well preserved this is. To see it, well it looks almost new.
Mechanically: Matching numbers. The engine (original) starts right up and has plenty of power. All the windows, and seat electronics work. The convertible top motor does need a little help to get started, but that's all. It goes up and down by itself. Through the years when this Cadillac Convertible was stored, the top was always down, so the motor had very little usage, if any, and was always maintained. The top is 12 years old and never had been up until this photo shoot. Awesome indeed, this Caddy makes you want to go on a road trip :)
