Up for sale is my 1969 GS400 Convertible restoration project.
The good begins with this – it is an original GS400 convt. I believe it is the original motor and trans but I’ve not matched the numbers to the car. The pictures will show a very solid trunk pan I assume the floor pans are in similar condition. The car was stored for years in a dry dairy barn. Included in the purchase price are NOS inner and outer front fenders for this car (very rare), an NOS trunk lid, NOS GS trunk emblem both pieces and if I find additional pieces they will be included. I have a nice 69 GS hood with the hood grilles and the correct 69 GS air cleaner. A solid, nice GS grille with surround is also there. This should be a complete car I do not intend to keep any parts that belong to this car or that I may have accumulated for its restoration.
As stated above this car is in need of restoration it is not a parts car. The car was involved in a front-end collision with a culvert, in Texas 20+ years ago. The story I was told is the elderly woman who owned the car drifted off the road into a ditch and came to rest abruptly against a concrete ditch culvert. In the process the frame horns were bent, they probably could have been straightened or replaced but someone at sometime used a torch to remove the engine to frame pads. I can only assume the torch was within arms reach and a wrench wasn’t…the doors were pushed backwards about 3/8 to ½ of an inch at the time of impact as well but they both open and close with the same quality you’ve come to expect from a Buick. Nice and tight with very little effort. I had the car looked at and an auto restorer told me it would be very easy to clip the frame in front of the convertible side braces with any standard frame and have a reliable functional vehicle. This car does have a clear title and it must be trailered from my home. The vehicle is located in central Indiana about ½ north of Indianapolis. I am moving very soon therefore the car must be paid for and removed by 10-24-08 if you can't fulfil this requirement please do not bid.
