I own a 1978 Alfa Romeo Spider Iniezione. I want to sell it because I don't drive it and that gets expensive meaning that I have now replaced the valve cover gasket 3 times due to the car sitting for months and encouraging the gasket to dry out. I've driven a 1991 Alfa 164 that I love for 4 years ( bought it on E-Bay). It is my daily driver and sits in the weather due to my Spider taking priority in the garage. I've owned the Spider for 4 years as well.
The car has 2 small rust spots: one under the spare tire well and one under the driver's foot well area. Total rust area: negligible and none on either running board or underneath the running boards.
Mechanically, the car is probably as good as it gets! I've had the engine and transmission completely gone through. The main seal and timing chain were replaced while the transmission was rebuilt. All seals and hoses have been replaced, engine tuned, and it runs very good. It starts right up and loves 3rd gear especially. It leaks minimal oil (like 3-4 drops a week on the garage floor). The front end has been inspected, tightened up and the brand new Yokohamas take to the the road with ease. The car has passed a safety check with all requirements working: turn signals, brake lights, horn, back-up lights, license plate lights, dim and bright head lights. The Top is new ($800 from International Auto) and is sunfast cloth fabric with UV resistance. The plastic window is clear and large for easy viewing. New exhaust. New battery. The exterior has its usual dings, a small crack in the quarter panel, and a scratch here and there. Overall, it gets a B+ in my opinion. It could use chrome bumpers but I can't find them. Service records will come with the car.
The interior needs all the attention now and I've priced it out: Excluding the cracked dash, I figured about $600 would get new carpet, seats, and door panels. It needs a new interior and that is the challenge now. I did have 3-point safety belts installed last year and I feel much safer driving it.Otherwise, it is a classicly awesome daily driver seasonally.
Nikki Lauda Edition: For what it's worth: This was basically a cosmetic package. The badge is on the dash and is numbered. I believe only 190 were introduced in the US. There are also Nikki Lauda badges on each front fender The decals and spoiler have been removed prior to my ownership. That is all I know.
My mechanic that has worked on both Alfas for 4 years is available to answer any technical questions I can't.
